With the moderate temperatures we've been having lately, now is the best time to install security cameras to protect your home, business or property.
Studies have shown that with increased amounts of dusk also amounts to increased criminal activity. With the days getting shorter now is one of the worst times for increased criminal activity. You should consider getting a security camera system.
The cost of surveillance cameras has dropped and now you can pick up a security camera for under $40.
Even the price of DVR cards has dropped considerably. Seven years ago you would have to spend approximately $200 for four camera card which would be able to record up to about four frames per second per camera. Now for about half the price you can get a card that records at a decent rate of 15 frames per second. With the costs dropping there is no excuse not to get one to protect your business.

Protect Your Equipment from Winter with Tarps
Winter is fast approaching and that means if you can't store it indoors your next best option is to use a tarp to protect it. We have customers that use tarps to protect firewood,
ATV's, outdoor / farm equipment, cars and more. Gardeners are even finding benefits of protecting the nitrogen in their garden by using tarps.
Our poly tarps are at least 8 times stronger then those old fashion canvas tarps and provide protection for a fraction of the cost of indoor storage.
We have more colour options as well. We now have white, woodland camouflage and classic blue poly tarps. Our 30x50 foot white poly tarps are perfect for backyard ice rinks. Nothing says Canadian winter fun then watching the kids play hockey on there own private ice rink.

Flash Rob Story at Convienence Store Reminds us of the Need for Security Cameras
Good afternoon, this is Tim the webmaster. Last week I saw a news story about a flash rob which happened in Ottawa. Basically what happened is that more then 40 young men entered an Ottawa convenience store and took stuff. The lone clerk was overwhelmed and powerless. The owner was prepared in that he had previously installed a security camera system. Ottawa Police Const. Marc Soucy said "The video is an important tool for the investigation. It helps put faces to the suspects. Now it's just to get names for these people to arrest them and charge them."
The men who did this didn't wear any disguises and I predict that will likely end up having many of them being identified. As this is the first reported flash rob in Canada the judge will likely be as harsh as possible to discourage similar style flash robs.
If your worried about this happening to your convenience store and haven't invested in a security camera system we have a huge selection of individual security cameras as well as complete security camera packages.

Civic Holiday Monday Explained
If you live in Ontario you will know that Monday August 1st is the Civic Holiday Monday. Most people have no clue why this holiday even exists. It started many years ago in London, ON when the merchants in the Richmond Row shopping district decided to collectively close for the first Monday in August to take there families for a picnic. The holiday has since caught on and has since spread throughout Ontario.
If you are planning to celebrate Civic Holiday Monday with a picnic you can either do it with an old fashion blanket or try it out off the ground with one of our handy folding picnic tables. They fold up and easily fit in your cars back seat or trunk.

London Airsoft Target Shooting Contest Results
This past weekend we sought to find London Ontario's most accurate airsoft shooter and help raise some cans for the London Food Bank.
Our customers did not disappoint us as we were overwhelmed by there generosity in both canned food and donations.
The contest was using a PT 92 Green Gas airsoft pistol in our new firing range. To make it fair for the contestants we had three different levels beginner, novice and expert.

We would like congratulate the winners

London's First Airsoft Firing Range Opens
The growing interest in the sport of airsoft has lead Forest City
Surplus to open the first airsoft firing range in London.
Airsoft is a sport where 6 MM round plastic BBs are fired out of spring,
battery or gas powered guns. The sport originated from Japan in the
1980's where there was great interest in guns, but they are banned for
civilian use. The replica guns caught on and airsoft has been slowly
expanding around the world. "When we first started carrying airsoft 3
years ago we were flooded with anxious airsoft customers" says Tim
Hodges Marketing Director and Webmaster at Forest City Surplus. "We have been expanding
the number of guns we carry to 37 varieties." says Jamie Finnemore
Forest City Surplus airsoft expert. "We carry the classic look a likes
like the AK-47 and the infamous 1920's Tommy Gun." Says Finnemore. "We
have the largest selection of airsoft guns in Southwestern Ontario" says
Store Manager Bryan Wildman. "With Fanshawe and Western students getting stressed out
preparing for exams we expect to see college and university students in firing airsoft
guns to relieve stress." Says Hodges
